  • Here’s an example of how we monitor and respond to changing patterns in library discovery of SAGE content. SAGE Research Methods – a platform that hosts the lion-share of SAGE’s content in research methodology, mixed methods, research design, and the research process. During its first full year in the market, 2011, SAGE Research Methods struggled for a competitive usage ratio from library websites. During these last 3 years, we’ve been increasing our customer base, tracking cost / use benchmarks, and working to improve traffic via all channels – specifically library search, since that’s a favorite among advanced readers who are more likely to be conducting social science research studies.
    Comparing the first 5 months of 2011 to the same period this year, we can see a steady climb in library referrals (that’s the orange line). This is moving in the right direction, improving cost / use metrics.
