  • All departments are currently dispatched by the Licking County 911 center in Newark for runs in Licking County. Utica Fire and EMS are also dispatched by the Utica Police Department and the Knox County Sheriff's Office (which also dispatches Homer on Knox County runs).
  • The Heath Fire Department generally uses 857.2125 (P25) only for communications with the Heath Police Department.
  • 33.980 (Perry County Fire) and 33.860 are sometimes patched together for Glenford runs in Licking County.
  • For dive/rescue team and haz-mat team runs, all departments with personnel or equipment for the relevant team are paged.

Codes

Fire/EMS departments in Licking County have moved almost entirely to plain language, although some remnants of BSSA codes and signals remain, such as 33 (en route), 37 (on the scene), 13 (non-emergency response), 27 (emergency response), and 16 (death). Also, the Newark Fire Department occasionally still uses "10-22," their former code for the police department, and "10-33," which indicates an emergency response (with lights and sirens), primarily when transporting to the hospital.

  • Not all departments operate full-time. The Licking County Sheriff's Office covers their jurisdictions when they are not operating. Neither Gratiot nor Hanover have a local police department.

The Licking County coroner is referred to as either "unit 50" or "450."

Codes and Signals

Most departments in Licking County use Buckeye State Sheriffs Association codes and signals to some degree. In addition, some use "Priority 1" for emergency response (lights and sirens), "Priority 2" for regular response, and "Point 19" for drunk drivers.

The Reynoldsburg Police Department uses Columbus Police codes. The Ohio State Highway Patrol uses its own codes.
